Read alsoSoultribe is the collaboration of two UK house music DJ’s, Wayne Haist & Matthew Green. Both Wayne and Matthew came to house music in pretty much the same way, hedonistic Friday, Wednesday and then later on Saturday nights in the now infamous Hacienda nightclub, Manchester, starting in the summer of 1988, listening to the music of those who have now become some of their favourite dance music dj’s and also artists in their own right, such as Mike Pickering (MPeople), Graeme Park, John Dasilva, Sasha, Steve Williams etc..
Both were mesmerized by the music, the atmosphere and the way the DJ’s controlled the crowd and created a journey through the night and they decided they wanted to be part of it. Both went on to learn their trade behind the decks the hard way – buying a set of Technics SL1210s, taking a box vinyl records and spending every spare moment locked away in their bedroom, searching out the best vinyl in the underground record stores of Leeds & Manchester and every Friday and Saturday in the happening clubs, listening, dancing and most of all enjoying this new music culture they had found.
When they met at on the same college course the following year an incredible journey experiencing all to do with house music began, progressing from bedroom dj’s, to birthdays, bar mitzvahs & college parties, warehouses and then on to some of the biggest clubs and nights of the UK house scene at the time; NATO, Hard Times, The Pleasure Rooms, The Music Factory, The Warehouse, The Room, Po Na Na, Fez Club.. and so the list goes on, whilst at the same time doing a number of shows for radio with KISS FM and then Galaxy 105.
Fast-forward to today and we find Soultribe located in South East Asia, and once again with the feeling that there is something special in the air. 20+ years of house music experience, passionately purveying it to bouncing dancefloors in both the early warehouse days and then clubs, constantly searching out the next big tune has given them a peerless knowledge of how to give a crowd that funky house feel good vibe.
